Virtues as Foundations
We're developing the critical thinkers tomorrow needs, in partnership with the moms and dads who take morality seriously. Serving students online across the State of Colorado. We have a place waiting for you.
Jefferson Classical Academy of Colorado at Peyton is a tuition-free online public school serving students in grades K–12 statewide. Through the classical Trivium—grammar, logic, and rhetoric—students build knowledge, strengthen reasoning, and develop confident communication from the safety of your home.
Virtues Endure: Dr. Bill Bennett, the Provost of JCA Colorado
Hi there. I am Dr. Bill Bennett, former US Secretary of Education, author of many books such as The Educated Child, The Moral Compass and The Book of Virtues, to name a few. And now, I am Provost of the Jefferson Classical Academy of Colorado. Welcome. I appreciate you taking time to explore and discover what we are offering families. Your child, should you choose to attend JCA Colorado, will be instructed in these virtues:
- Self-Discipline
- Learning moderation, control, and restraint over impulses.
- Compassion
- Cultivating empathy, kindness, and mercy toward others.
- Responsibility
- Understanding duty, obligations, and accountability for one’s actions.
- Friendship
- Valuing companionship, fellowship, and goodwill.
- Work
- Appreciating industry, diligence, and honest labor.
- Courage
- Facing physical or moral danger with bravery.
- Perseverance
- Sticking to a task and refusing to quit despite setbacks.
- Honesty
- Truthfulness and integrity in word and deed.
- Loyalty
- Faithfulness to family, friends, country, and principles.
You will find that our teachers, our staff, and our team, will try to live by them each day. Next, you will find that we will emphasize the basic, the traditional and the important disciplines that have been shown, over time, to work. You will not find the current fads or diversions but time-tested methods of instruction built on the classical model. You will also find an ally during these formative years. Thank you for considering JCA Colorado. It would be a privilege to join you on this journey.
— Dr. William J. Bennett, Provost
